| Song From the Movie 'Ice Castles' my daughter, at age 10, skated solo to in an ice show the year I was carrying her "little" brother (who is a foot taller than her). He thinks she hung moon and she just may have. I love you both more than words can say. |
I will always remember that brave, graceful, precious little girl, gliding across the ice with such joy, whilst you and I sat crying with pride as we watched her skate. I think we were far more nervous than she was.
ReplyDeleteYou may not remember, but "Through the Eyes of Love" was the first song I had sung at my wedding -- sung beautifully, I might say, by our sister, Ra. It was many years into my adulthood before I recognized and admitted to myself that I had inherited Dad's negative view of life. My gut reaction towards myself and others, was always negative and often ugly. I did my best to hide it or keep it private, but without doubt, it often revealed itself. The title of this song inspired me to make a profound change in how I viewed *everything*. They are the unsaid words that run through my head and lift the dark veil on my heart and inspired me to change that part of me that instantly wanted to hurt before being hurt and now want to love with no expectations of being loved in return -- to find the joy where once I only saw the sadness. You are so right -- you can't be who you want to be if you remain who you are. We are all wonderful works in progress -- some ahead of the race, and most of us running in the back of the pack with determination to never give up. That is you, my dear sister -- and me too, of course.
Much Love,
~faf
